探討海港鐵道興起的工業城市面臨產業變遷以及都市更新時，如何在「文化資產保存」與「都市更新」兩造立場之間求得平衡，並以位於高雄市的打狗驛站區(臺鐵高雄港站)為規劃設計之基地。
哈瑪星及鹽埕地區在日治時期由於打狗驛站的鐵道及海港碼頭的地理優勢，漁業、工業興盛發展，成為高雄第一個現代化城市的起源地；隨著都市擴張、產業變遷以及市中心的遷移，地區興盛不再，而高雄港站的鐵道交通運輸也步入了停駛的命運，在這塊代表著高雄歷史文化發展起源且擁有大片珍貴鐵道地景的空間，如何進行都市的復甦及場域之再生，進而帶動活化周邊地區的再發展，賦予其新生機。
本規劃設計欲以保存地方歷史及鐵道文化資產的前提下，檢視基地場域及周遭環境的發展歷史、景觀資源、地方文化藝術、場域意象以及政府規劃的相關計畫與產業、交通發展策略等，以都市設計的層面進行全區的分析及配置策略，再輔以建築設計的概念作為創作成果，尋求出適合的新興產業及空間機能置入，重塑地方歷史人文風采，並連結周邊地區觀光景點路線及自然景觀資源，復甦打狗驛站區，打造出符合高雄港都歷史文化特色的永續生
態城市。

Urban Revitalization
The essay will discuss the development of harbor railway of industrial city which is confronting both situations such as industry changes and Urban Renewal. In addition to this, it will explore a balance approach between Railway Heritage Preservation and Urban Renewal. Furthermore, the Kaohsiung Port Station turns into the planning site in this essay.
During the Japanese occupation in Kaohsiung, Yancheng District and Ha-ma-seng possessed the superiorities such as geographic, fishery and industry, which causes a significant factor to modernize Kaohsiung. However, there are several impacts such as urban expansion, industry changes and city center changes, which also cause the declines in these areas during the last decades. Therefore, the railway transport in Kaohsiung Port Station is also suspended in nowadays. On the other hand the railway transport obtains the historical value as well as the valuable railway landscape in the region. As a result, the measure of Urban Revitalization contains ability to improve these spaces and provide other development opportunities to the surroundings.
The program will protect these valuable local history and railway culture. In addition to this, it also survey these categories such as development history, landscape resources, local culture and art, image of the field, some relevant plans of the government and transport development policies, which are analyzed mainly by urban design. Moreover, adding the some concepts from architecture design to become the creation. Furthermore, these methods will discover appropriate new industries and spaces to get into the site, which are ability to restore the prosperity in Japanese occupation and connect the sources from surround tourism and natural landscape.
As a result, reviving Kaohsiung Port Station and create an ecologically sustainable city which includes historical cultural feature in Kaohsiung, which is the main purpose in this essay.
